Writing Wednesday
Next!
So,
in 6 days, I will be an officially published author. My first book will be
live. I just have to sit back let the fame and glory pour in, right?
HA!
Not so fast. I know that many first-time authors sort of languishing in obscurity
for a while until they get “discovered” by readers. The interest starts to pick
up when you get your second and third books published. Then, readers begin to
take you seriously. That makes sense, I guess. How many have seen a one-hit-wonder
come long only to fade away back into the depths of nothingness?
Before
I even had In The Stars ready to edit,
I had Across the Sea about 90% ready
for edit. Then I started to write Under
the Blue Sky. These all fall in the series, Always and Forever. I also started to write a western romance set
in 1877. So far, I know I am releasing two more books In 2021. I am not sure if
the western one will come out in early 2022 or have my fourth in the series
come out.
My
most ambitious plan is a non-fiction book I want to write about my time at
Orlando RTC (Recruit Training Command). The goal for that is to have it ready
in time for the 2022 Orlando RTC reunion.
An
author needs to be ahead on titles. Oddly, I find writing the other books has
become far more straightforward. Of course, I get in the writer’s block mood, but
the ideas seem to flow a little easier.
Yes,
I have plans, and I want to keep moving forward. After all, there were too many
one-hit-wonders in the 80s.
